Prostate Surgery with Steam Therapy
Prostate Steam Therapy is a minimally invasive treatment option designed to reduce BPH symptoms in men with prostate enlargement without the side effects of BPH medications.
Its prominent features are that it can be applied in a very short time and that its side effect profile is minimal. Urethral stricture, urinary incontinence, and impaired sexual function, which can sometimes be observed in prostate treatments, are almost never seen. Retrograde ejaculation, which is the backward flow of semen into the bladder, can be seen at a much lower rate than in all other surgeries (5-10%).
Minimally Invasive Treatment for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)
Prostate Steam Therapy delivers steam at a temperature above the boiling point (103 °C) into the prostate tissue for 9 seconds using a special applicator. The device consists of a unit that generates steam and an applicator that delivers this steam into the prostate. The method has many features that make it minimally invasive, but the most important of these is the applicator device through which the steam is applied.
Clinical studies show that this treatment has a positive safety profile and the ability to relieve BPH symptoms. In each 9-second treatment, sterile steam is released into the targeted prostate tissue. The vaporized delivery is more effective than boiling water in terms of diffusion, and the energy released as the vapor condenses into water increases its effectiveness in killing prostate cells.
At this stage, the prostate BPH tissue that is burned and destroyed by heat gradually shrinks as the body’s natural healing response eliminates the dead cells over time. As the extra tissue is eliminated, the urethra (external urinary tract) widens, thereby reducing BPH symptoms. In most patients, symptoms begin to resolve within as little as two weeks, and maximum benefit is typically achieved within three months. Patient responses vary.

The Steam System is also indicated for the treatment of prostates with middle or median lobe hyperplasia.
